This is a general reminder of CP Rail over-weight container surcharge to all customers. The following are the Maximum Commodity Weights allowable for rail movement within Canada:
- 48,000 lbs or 21.772 MT per 20¡¯ Container
- 60,000 lbs or 27.215 MT per 40¡¯ Container
The Maximum Commodity Weights allowable for rail movement via Vancouver to US Inland Destinations are:
- 40,000 lbs per 20¡¯ Container
- 50,000 lbs per 40¡¯ & 45¡¯ Container
Any weight exceeding these amounts, but still within the legal maximum capacity of the container, is still acceptable for rail. However, an Over-Weight Surcharge will be assessed by CP Rail as follows:
- Within Canada: $129.00cad + 2% FSC (Fuel Surcharge) for total
Over-Weight Surcharge of $131.58cad per 20¡¯ or 40¡¯ cntr
- To US Destination: $95usd + 2% FSC (Fuel Surcharge) for total Over-Weight Surcharge of $96.90usd per 20¡¯, 40¡¯ or 45¡¯ cntr
Please note that 3rd Party Invoices will be generated for the above Over-Weight Surcharge on any containers exceeding the above maximum rail weight restrictions.
Both the terminal & the rail will NOT handle any cargo whose weight exceeds the Maximum Weight Capacity of the Container, and all charges associated will be for the account of the cargo owners.
